European Commission : DG Agriculture "EU-US agricultural trade" (August 2005) -

This report from DG Agriculture is a critique of GAIN Report   "Least Favoured Nation: Impact of EU Trade Agreements on US Agriculture" (E35076, April 2005) that focused on two issues:

bullet EU free trade agreements do not cover "substantially all trade" when looking at the agricultural sector; and
bullet A cross section of EU FTAs (Egypt, South Africa, Chile) suggests that after the FTA enters into force there may be a decline in US exports of products the EU has given preferences to one of these countries in an FTA.

This report builds on a series of reports the FAS/USEU office has undertaken looking at different aspects of the EU's trade relations with developing countries as well as the US:

bullet
CAP Reform 2003 - Deconstructing Decoupling  (E34044, August 2004)
bullet

EU and US Trade Flows with Developing Countries (E23131, July 2003}

Everything But Arms: Declining agricultural exports from least developed countries (E23149, August 2003)

bullet

Tariff Escalation (E23155, August 2003)

bullet

Export Subsidies (E23156, August 2003)
