President Bush Announces Intention to Nominate Kristen Silverberg as U.S. Representative to the EU

President George W. Bush announced on April 24 his intention to nominate Kristen Silverberg, of Texas, to be Representative of the United States of America to the European Union.

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals and appoint one individual to serve in his Administration. The President intends to nominate Kristen Silverberg, of Texas, to be Representative of the United States of America to the European Union, with the rank and status of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary. Ms. Silverberg currently serves as Assistant Secretary of State (International Organization Affairs). Prior to this, she served as Deputy Assistant to the President and Advisor to the Chief of Staff at the White House. Earlier in her career, she served as a law clerk to Justice Clarence Thomas and Judge David Sentelle. Ms. Silverberg received her bachelor's degree from Harvard University and her JD from the University of Texas.
 

The President intends to nominate Lyndon L. Olson, Jr., of Texas, to be a Member of the United States Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy, for the remainder of a three-year term expiring 07/01/08.

The President intends to appoint Victor Davis Hanson, of California, to be a Member of the American Battle Monuments Commission.
